He tells us that he had found an U.S. ID tag (dog tag) with his metal detector beloning to PVT Meredith, Walter D. – 35614500. The ID tag is found in Rucphen in The Netherlands and contains the following information;

This person is not recorded as unaccounted for. We tried to find if any relatives of Mr. Meredith can be found, but unfortunately we are not able to find any relatives of Private Walter D. Meredith and therefore the project was closed.
Study Group Missing Soldier appreciates that she was contacted. The person that found the tag took the right decision, although the soldier wasn’t reported missing. The foundation appreciates that decision and expressed its appreciation to him. We hope that many will follow his example.
