March 9, 2022
As of March 9, 2022, the Missing in Action (MIA) Foundation has cancelled her activities. The board has made a unanimous decision to do so. As a result, we are moving from the Missing in Action (MIA) Foundation (Stichting Missing in Action (MIA)) to Study Group Missing Soldier (Studiegroep Vermiste Soldaat).
The reason for this change is that the board has concluded that continuing as a foundation offers little to no benefit. The Missing In Action (MIA) Foundation had to comply with all sorts of regulations that didn’t apply to the foundation. This entailed a lot of administration without any added value for the foundation and its mission.
This change will not change our mission or the team we have formed. Continuing as the Study Group Missing Soldier will, however, entail administrative changes, such as deregistration with the Chamber of Commerce and the board’s roles. Ton, Peter, and Tino will still be board members, but no longer as treasurer, secretary or chairman.
Mission Study Group Missing Soldier
Our mission remains the same: to locate missing soldiers from World War II and give them a dignified final resting place. The group focuses on ground personnel who went missing within the Benelux and Germany.
The Missing In Action (MIA) Foundation was established in 2008, and since then we have accomplished a great deal. Our existence has led to many changes in Europe, particularly in the areas of collaboration and legislation. As a team, we are proud of this!
