Circumstances
PVT Boersema was last seen while participating in a raid, to clear out a wooded area near Hatterath, Germany on 29 October 1944. It was reported that several antipersonnel mines or booby traps were heard to explode in the vicinity in which he was known to be. PVT Boersema was not seen after the explosion and the identifiable remains were never recovered.
October 30, 1945 he was officially declared dead, one day and one year after he was reported missing in action.
